We arrived into Nelson’s Harbour, Antigua on the 19th December. Nelson’s Harbour itself is steeped in history and our reason for wanted to anchor there. Once ashore we soon decided to stay an extra day here and rent a car to take a quick tour around the island. It is beautiful. It is the first time a ran soft white golden flecked sand through my fingers. It was sand as I had seen in the brochures and always wanted to experience.

This is from one of the three beaches we stopped off at on our island tour, but the surf was very strong and the drop quite steep, so we jumped back into the car and headed for the next one on the list. Interestingly the surf was strong in all three beaches, so there was a lot of body surfing going on amongst the adventurous of us for the rest of the day. We had been advised to make it to a place called Shirley Heights that overlooked Nelson’s Harbour for sunset, to catch the sun going down over Montserrat Island while listening to a live outdoor steel band on the mountain top. We did make it and it was another magical moment to add to the ever increasing number we were experiencing along the way.
